DUE TO SNOW AND ICE, OUR JANUARY 12 SERVICES HAVE BEEN CANCELED

Prayer Requests • 1/11/2026

MEDICAL

Esther Johnson: Esther continues to face Parkinson’s and related health challenges. We’re thankful her recent heart catheterization showed no concerns, ruling out her heart as the cause of fatigue and shortness of breath. Last week, she began an oral medication her doctor hopes will restore strength and improve breathing. Please pray for renewed stamina, better quality of life, and easy breathing—and for Russ as he cares for her.

Tommy Bradford: Tommy is improving as he recovers from RSV, a respiratory infection affecting both lungs. We thank God that the antibiotics are working and the congestion is clearing. Each day brings progress. Please continue to pray for complete healing and full recovery.

Tyler Davidson: Prayers were answered! On December 23, Tyler went in for what was expected to be a heart ablation to treat a suspected rare congenital condition. But when doctors began the procedure, they found his heart was perfectly healthy—no issues at all! Even after an hour of testing, they couldn’t induce any irregular rhythm. Tyler is now back at work as a firefighter. We praise God for this incredible outcome!

John Wood: John continues treatments for pancreatic cancer in a three-month clinical trial in New York City. John has had a few instances of fainting (syncope); however, that is being managed with a protocol, and John continues to feel better each week. A recent scan revealed that the main tumor in his pancreas was 20% smaller, the spots in his liver are also smaller, and no new masses have appeared. John’s oncologist is encouraged by his progress in the trial. Please continue to pray for the success of John’s treatment, relief from pain, and complete healing. We also ask for strength, peace, and comfort for John, Alicia, and their entire family.

Please note the special insert in this week’s GC News: “My Prayer for 2026” by Alicia Wood. Published at our request and with Alicia’s permission.

Grace Brown: Grace continues to receive immunotherapy treatments for lung cancer, taking daily oral medication and periodic infusions. Thanks be to God that the treatments are having the desired effect of significantly reducing the lung tumors! The lesions in the brain and hip are shrinking with some no longer visible. The side effects of treatments, however, are taking a toll which requires managing the infusions. We pray for healing and for being able to successfully manage the side effects of rashes and fatigue. Please continue to pray for complete healing, strength, and peace for Grace and her family.

Susan Boling: Susan continues recovering well from hip replacement surgery, though she still faces physical challenges. A new wrinkle appeared this week when Susan had a severe cat bite which hit 3 veins in her hand. As a result, her doctor added another antibiotic to her current treatment regimen to protect against infection. Please continue to pray for Susan’s complete healing and restoration of mobility, strength, and overall health.

Calli (Bo Edwards’ sister): Calli is at home and doing better after spending several weeks in a mental health facility in Charlotte, NC a couple of months ago. Please pray for continued healing, renewed motivation, and peace in her home with her husband and their special needs son.

OUR SICK AND SAINTS AT HOME

Please remember in your prayers the following GC members who have ongoing health issues and are generally unable to attend worship services:

Bert and Joyce Blackwell: Pray for Bert’s declining health and for Joyce as his caregiver. Joyce says that they continue to hang in there. Melissa Boyle is helping to coordinate meals; you may sign up to take a meal at mealtrain.com/trains/yrzl3k. Feel free to send Joyce a text of encouragement (no calls, please); she so appreciates it.

David and Carolyn Wheeler: David says this week, “We are walking by faith. We are doing as good as we can, keeping our doctor’s appointments, and looking at more MRI tests. Thanks to everyone who is praying for us!”

David cannot be around large crowds due to his weak immune system. He is battling cancer in both kidneys as well as prostate cancer. Thankfully, neither has spread, and we pray that this remains the case since surgery is not an option for either condition. Pain management is currently under control. David credits Carolyn for keeping him alive—she is a wonderful caregiver. They continue regular doctor visits as Carolyn also faces health challenges, yet both maintain positive attitudes. David and Carolyn welcome calls or visits.
