BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT

Congratulations to Jenny and Daniel Brown on the birth of their son, Jensen David Brown, born on October 27th at 12:58 p.m. Jensen arrived prematurely via emergency induction, and is currently in the NICU. Please pray that he continues to get stronger and more stable so that he can be at home with Mommy, Daddy, and big brother, Zander.

MEDICAL

Grace Brown: Grace is just starting chemo treatments for her recently diagnosed lung cancer.  She began daily oral treatments last Thursday and will begin weekly infusions on Monday. As Grace faces the challenges of treatment and its side effects, please pray for resilience, strength, and peace and that the cancer will be removed entirely from her body.

Heavenly Father, please be with Grace’s Emory medical team as they care for her.  Also, we pray for her husband, Tom, daughters, Anna and Cara, and son, Caleb. Let us all battle in prayer for Grace’s health just as she is battling. Let us lift up this sweet family to our Heavenly Father as we pray for complete healing and restoration of health.

John Wood: John continues his chemo treatments for pancreatic cancer and is doing much better. He has gained back a significant amount of weight, and his strength has returned with his walking and working out. He still deals with nausea and weakness from time to time but is managing his body as best he can. Please continue to pray for strength for John, full remission of the cancer, and complete healing. We are also praying for Alicia, John’s faithful partner, and their entire sweet family.

Jane and Doug Gilliard: Both are dealing with ongoing medical situations. Doug is recovering nicely from an extensive surgery to mend his hip and will soon begin water aerobics to help regain strength. Jane started physical therapy after recent x-rays revealed that her broken right wrist and elbow are healing well. Right now, neither of them can drive so it is literally “all in the family,” as Doug and Jane’s physical family have stepped big time up to meet their daily needs. Church family has also stepped up as well. Please continue to pray for full recovery. Doug and Jane look forward to the day they will be back worshiping with us in person.

Susan Boling: Susan recently began outpatient physical therapy at Champion rehab in Cumming to deal with the severe back, hip and knee pain, and will be seeing a pain management doctor. She is hoping to ease some of the pain as she works her way toward having a hip replacement.

Susan says, “Pain wears on the body, mind, and spirit to the point of exhaustion some days. But I am hopeful that continued prayers will help me through the next phase of this journey through pain management and reduction. I am grateful for all the prayers and loving care that have been and are still being said and done for me. Continued prayers are loved and appreciated.” We love you Susan and are praying for you!

Esther and Russ Johnson: Esther continues to face a number of health challenges, including Parkinson’s disease, and she and Russ are among our cherished “Saints at Home.” Esther hasn’t been able to attend church for some time, but Russ shares that they’ve been doing okay overall. However, Esther has recently grown very weak and is having trouble breathing. He said, “Next Tuesday, the 14th, Esther is having a breathing/cardio test to try and find out the cause. We’re doing our best to stay positive and hopeful, and thanks so much for thinking of us. Love you, the Johnsons.”

We pray that God will give strength and vitality to both Esther and Russ, and that they will stay positive despite the obstacles they’ve been facing.

Bo Edwards, his sister, Calli, and their mother: Calli continues to struggle with depression and is reluctant to take her prescribed medications. We pray for healing from her mental health issues, renewed motivation, and peace in her home with her husband and their special needs son. May God bring restoration and hope to this family.

Please pray also for Bo and his mother during this time of great family stress.  Heavenly Father, be with Bo as he copes with a demanding job that involves travel at times, even while he ministers to his sister at her home, and separately, to his mother.

OUR SICK AND SAINTS AT HOME

A big “thank you” to so many who are reaching out as the Spirit prompts you to our dear brothers and sisters who are experiencing trials and tribulations, both medically and spiritually. Cards, phone calls, and visits are so appreciated. Please remember in your prayers the following GC members who have ongoing health issues and are generally unable to attend worship services:

Bert and Joyce Blackwell: Pray for Bert’s declining health and for Joyce as his caregiver. This week Joyce said that they continue to hang in there. Bert has lost a lot of weight over time and had a fall this past week. Patrick Boyle came over to help get Bert up off the floor. Melissa Boyle is helping coordinate meals so please contact Melissa if you would like help. Feel free to give Joyce a call of encouragement; she so appreciates it.

David and Carolyn Wheeler: David cannot be around large crowds due to his weak immune system. They continue to be in and out of doctor’s offices on a routine basis but are keeping wonderful, positive attitudes. He and Carolyn are happy to have calls or visits.
