DUE TO SNOW AND ICE, OUR JANUARY 12 SERVICES HAVE BEEN CANCELED

Prayer Requests • 5/25/2025

High School Graduation Season: A page is turned. Lord be with all our graduates and their families. Keep safe any family members traveling to attend graduation. May your countenance and protection be on our graduates forever!

Recent Natural Disasters: Please pray for all those impacted by the tornadoes on Friday, May 16th, in multiple states (Kentucky, Missouri and Illinois). There were several fatalities and much property destruction.

MEDICAL

Don Trimble: Has had lower back problems for years, but the pain has been severe lately. Please pray for Don’s full healing and that his back pain just melts away as he undergoes treatment. Also pray for wife Brenda as she serves as caregiver.

Bert & Joyce Blackwell: Bert is at home under Joyce’s care as his health continues to slowly decline. Please pray for comfort for Bert, and strength, comfort, and energy for Joyce.

Bobby McVey: Bobby says, “I think this would be a good week to remove me from the published GC Prayer Request list. I am doing better every day. There may be a time coming up where we would ask for specific prayers again, but for now, just asking for continued improvement and increased energy.” Our prayers continue. Praise the Lord for Bobby’s recovery!

David Wheeler: Results from a recent MRI show that cancer in the right kidney is growing slowly, but there is a new, aggressive type of cancer in his left kidney, which fortunately has not metastasized. Follow up scheduled for June; David is not a candidate for kidney or prostate surgery. Please pray for strength, comfort, and peace for David and wife Carolyn.

Esther and Russ Johnson: Esther recently changed doctors as part of her dealing with Parkinson’s disease. Please pray that the change in doctors and any treatment modifications will lead to much better daily health, strength, and control over any anxiety. Please pray for Russ as her caregiver.

Cathy Arvidson (sister-in-law of Esther Johnson): Thanks be to God that Cathy’s back surgery was successful! She is able to function once more after the debilitating pain. Cathy expresses thanks to God for seeing her through this, as well as to all those who have been praying for her. Please pray for complete recovery as she continues rehab.

John Wood: Had his eleventh chemo treatment for pancreatic cancer on May 12th. Pray for good days as he deals with side effects of chemo, and that he continues to heal and stay strong through this process. We pray that God continues to be glorified through the tremendous faith that John, Alicia, and their family have displayed throughout this journey.

Laura Johnson: We pray for Russ Johnson’s sister and her ongoing battle with bladder cancer (over nine years). The doctors are still working to optimize her medications. Please pray for strength, reduced nausea, and that the treatments will rid her body of cancer.

IN MEMORIAM

Michael Prather: Passed away May 19th after battling cancer. Michael is known by many members at GC and had worked with the His Way group. Please pray for his family and all those mourning his loss. He was a wonderful man and Christian.

Michael’s obituary may be read at dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/roswell-ga/michael-prather-12383570

Louise Clites: A celebration of life event will be held this afternoon for this 94-year-old saint who passed on Wednesday, May 14th. The event is only a few miles from the GC church building.

From Louise’s son, Palmer:
“Louise Clites’ children invite you to join them in celebrating her life at a meet-and-greet at her residence facility. This will be at Villas at Canterfield, 815 Atlanta Highway (Building One) in Cumming on Sunday, May 25th from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Country Kitchen on the first floor. We look forward to greeting those who knew and supported our mother and us in recent years.”
