Day 37

Jesus’ parable in Luke 18:9–14 contrasts the self-righteous prayer of a Pharisee with the humble plea of a tax collector. The Pharisee trusted in his own righteousness, elevating himself while treating others with contempt. In contrast, the tax collector recognized his unworthiness and begged for God’s mercy, embodying the ideal posture of true humility. Jesus’ teaching reminds us that righteousness is a gift from Christ, not something earned, and that humility before God exalts Him and transforms our hearts.
