Community Partner news and service opportunities for GC members

GC's Care Team Corner connects members with our local community partner organizations, offering a variety of community-focused projects and events. Whether you’re passionate about feeding the hungry, mentoring children, or participating in neighborhood clean-ups, there’s something for everyone to make a meaningful impact.

PARTNER OF THE MONTH

Cumming Elementary School was established in 1923 as Cumming Public School, serving students in grades 1 through 11, and was the first school in Forsyth County to offer a high school diploma. Today, Cumming Elementary is a Title I school filled with eager students (Pre-K through 5th grade), dedicated staff members, and supportive families...
Cumming Elementary has occupied several locations, beginning with the old high school building located at 101 School Street. In 1927 a fire destroyed the original school, and it was rebuilt with its original brick walls; this location is now the site of the Cumming Playhouse.

It next moved to 136 Elm Street, the current Almond C. Hill Educational Center, in 1961 where Mr. Dwight Pulliam served as principal. In 2002 Cumming Elementary moved to its current and permanent location on Dahlonega Street.

CURRENT PARTNER NEEDS

Meet the most pressing needs in our community

The Place: Holiday House
This Christmas, Grace Chapel is again partnering with The Place of Forsyth County to help provide toys and gifts for children in need in our community.

Families who meet poverty guidelines are able to register for assistance, and then "shop" in the Holiday House age-specific toy shops using a points system. Last year, The Place Holiday House helped provide joy for over 2,000 children!

Middle and high school students are typically the least provided for age group at The Place Holiday House. Please consider donating items or $25 gift cards for teens this Christmas.

We will be collecting donations in the GC foyer through Friday, December 5th. Please donate unwrapped, new items.

Atlanta Inner-City Ministry
GC is also partnering with AIM (Atlanta Inner-City Ministry) in their Hope 4 the Family initiative again this holiday season.

AIM is a faith-based non-profit organization that provides much-needed resources to many in urban Atlanta who are living in poverty, struggling with addictions, and seeking spiritual guidance.

If you, your family, and/or your Life Group would like to sponsor any children, please contact Rocky Wyatt . He will respond with the information for each child, as well as a few other important details.

Our role in the Hope 4 the Family initiative is to purchase gift items that will be provided to families connected to AIM so that they can give these gifts to their children this Christmas.

Here are a few specific details about the donations:
  • Each child will prepare a wish list of a few items, and our objective is to purchase items from the list, along with a few stocking stuffer items, that the folks at AIM will give to the families closer to Christmas.
  • The target amount to spend on gift Items should total around $100-$150 per child.
  • Donations must be returned to GC by Sunday, December 7th.
