CURRENT YOUTH NIGHT SERIES

STRANGER THINGS

EXPLORING STRANGE BUT TRUE STORIES FROM THE BIBLE

Playing off of the popularity of Stranger Things, the hit Netflix series that just concluded its final season, this series will explore some of the strange but true stories recorded in the Scriptures.

We strongly encourage and guide young people to develop the practice of daily reading the Bible; as they dig deeper into the Bible, it is inevitable that they will encounter stories that are confusing and troubling—especially stories dealing with darkness and spiritual warfare. Though our young people may not have faced terrifying spiritual realities of biblical proportions, there are plenty of experiences in their personal lives and realities in this world of darkness that cause many young people to live in fear.

Paul writes in Ephesians that our real struggle is not against flesh and blood enemies, but against the unseen, evil, mighty powers in the world and the spiritual forces in the heavenly places. Thankfully, we also learn from John, the apostle, that the Spirit Who is in us is greater than the spirit who is in the world. We want young people to have confidence that since God is for us, we have nothing to fear!

*DISCLAIMER*
While we desire to connect with young people through culturally relevant topics, issues, and art forms, we also recognize that our young people are at lots of different stages on their developmental journeys. We are sensitive to the fact that our families understandably have varying expectations about what the young people in their homes may listen to and watch. We are well aware that the show, Stranger Things, has plenty of content that would not be suitable for many of our youth and families; therefore, we will keep references to the show to a minimum, and we will avoid any graphic stories or images being shared by adult or youth leaders directly connected to the series. We also respect and support any families who decide they are not ready to engage in this series due to the nature of the stories.  As always, please feel free to reach out to Rocky Wyatt or to any of Youth Small Group Leaders if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for trusting us to partner with you to fuel faith in the next generation!
Remember that dinner at Youth Night is FREE thanks to generous donations from GC families.  If you're able to make a donation, you may do so below, or drop cash or check (written to Grace Chapel and labeled with "Youth Night Dinner") in the contribution box in the GC Lobby.
