The Wyatts are so thankful to the GC family for surrounding them with encouragement and prayers!

John Wood: John continues to receive treatment for pancreatic cancer and cancer in the lining of his abdomen. A persistent pocket of fluid between his stomach and spleen has been a significant source of pain and discomfort, making it difficult for him to eat, drink, and sleep. An MRI showed the fluid collection had grown to approximately the size of a small water bottle, and John has lost 35 pounds as a result.

This week, John underwent a nerve ablation procedure that brought significant relief from his pain. Alicia reported that he did not need any pain medication following the procedure. However, doctors were unable to access the fluid pocket between his stomach and spleen, so John was transferred to Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital for a specialized gastrointestinal procedure. Doctors were able to successfully place a stent to drain the fluid, and John said that he “felt good” when he woke up. He was later able to tolerate clear liquids and soft foods.

Please pray that the procedure will provide lasting relief, that John will be able to maintain adequate nutrition and hydration, and that his electrolyte levels will stabilize. Also pray that he will regain strength, weight, and endurance in the days ahead, and be blessed with peace and patience throughout this journey. We continue to pray for complete healing. Please also remember Alicia and the entire family as they faithfully walk this difficult road together.

Kathy Brooks - Under Hospice Care: Kathy is at home under hospice care as she has decided to forgo further treatment of some serious health issues. As she meets with her doctors and considers upcoming surgery and treatment options, please pray for wisdom, clarity, and peace in every decision. Thank you for your continued prayers!

John Wood: John is back at Emory Johns Creek Hospital and continues to receive treatment for pancreatic cancer and cancer in the lining of his abdomen. A persistent pocket of fluid between his stomach and spleen has become a significant source of pain and discomfort, making it difficult for him to eat, drink, and sleep. An MRI showed the fluid collection has grown to approximately the size of a small water bottle, and John has lost 35 pounds as a result.

Doctors have determined that draining the fluid is an important next step. The procedure was scheduled for Friday, but it had to be postponed when the hospital’s CT machine unexpectedly went down. At this time, Monday is the earliest it can be performed, although John’s oncologist is actively exploring other options to ensure the procedure takes place as soon as possible. Thankfully, John’s pain is being managed with medication, and efforts continue to help him maintain adequate nutrition.

Please pray that the fluid-drainage procedure can be completed without further delay and that it will provide immediate and lasting relief. Pray that John’s nausea, pain, and other side effects will improve, and that he will regain strength, appetite, and endurance in the days ahead. We continue to pray for complete healing. Please also remember Alicia and the entire family as they faithfully walk this difficult journey together.

Verna Enfinger: Margaret Krams’ mother, Verna, improved enough to return home from a Florida hospital recently and continues receiving in-home care as she recovers from a urinary tract infection. Please pray for strength, endurance, and complete healing for Verna. Also remember Margaret and her sisters as they faithfully care for her and support her during this season.

Kathy Brooks - Under Hospice Care: Kathy is at home under hospice care as she has decided to forgo further treatment of some serious health issues. Kathy and Ed are delighted with every person from the hospice team and are so grateful for the love and support brought by visitors and phone calls.

Please continue to pray for these two beloved saints and family, asking God to surround them with His peace, comfort, strength, and grace.

Grace Brown: Grace recently learned that the tumor in her lung has begun to grow again. She is scheduled to undergo five radiation treatments in early August to target the growth. She will also continue her monthly chemotherapy infusions.

Please continue praying for Grace’s healing, for manageable treatment side effects, and for peace, strength, and encouragement for Grace and her family.

Rosemary Lisby: Rosemary has been dealing with digestive issues over the past few weeks, in addition to ongoing inflammation in her lower back that has affected mobility in her right leg and caused numbness in her foot.

Please pray for relief from these digestive concerns, complete healing, and fully restored mobility so she can confidently resume driving Also remember her husband, Greg, as he faithfully cares for and supports her during this time.

Virginia Ann Edwards (Bo Edwards’ mother): Sister Edwards recently celebrated her 92nd birthday. Kathy and Ed are delighted with every person from the hospice team who has visited and are so grateful for the love and support brought by visitors and phone calls.

Please continue to pray for these two beloved saints, asking God to surround them with His peace, comfort, strength, and grace.

John Wood: John is currently being treated by his Emory oncologist for cancer in the lining of his abdomen, which has caused nausea and fluid buildup. His medical team is also exploring additional clinical trial medications for his pancreatic cancer. We remain grateful for the success of the initial trial drug, which reduced the cancer in John’s pancreas by approximately 60 percent and eliminated the cancer in his liver. That trial has now concluded for John as he focuses on treatment for the abdominal cancer. John recently completed radiation treatments and has been receiving chemotherapy.

From Alicia: “John has been struggling with poor appetite, nausea, and vomiting for several days. I had to take him to the ER Saturday (July 4th) because he was dehydrated. They admitted him and he remained until Thursday afternoon. It took them several days to get his levels back to normal. Then we had scans and tests to determine the cause of the nausea/vomiting.

We have a pretty good plan moving forward. Our prayer requests are: control of nausea, able to tolerate eating, able to tolerate chemotherapy, relief from cramping and back pain.”

Please pray that this new treatment plan will be effective and that John will experience relief from nausea and pain, regain his strength and appetite, and tolerate his treatments well. Also remember Alicia and the entire family as they continue this journey together.

Grace Brown: Grace recently learned that the tumor in her lung has begun to grow again. We continue to thank God for the remarkable results of the trial medication, which reduced the cancer in his pancreas by approximately 60 percent and eliminated the cancer in his liver.

While the cancer has progressed in the lining of John’s abdomen, causing fluid buildup and discomfort, John recently met with his oncologist at Emory, who was extremely pleased with his progress and remarked on how well he looks despite everything he has been through. The oncologist is beginning the process of seeking early access to one of the trial drugs that proved so effective and hopes to add it to John’s treatment plan after evaluating his response to chemotherapy.

John recently completed radiation treatments and received a round of chemotherapy. He continues to experience significant fatigue as he recovers from the effects of radiation, manages fluid retention, and adjusts to his new treatment regimen. We pray that the worst of the radiation side effects of the radiation will soon be behind him, and he will begin to regain some strength in the coming days.

Please pray for strength, comfort, and relief from these side effects.
